How to apply

  1. Program Overview

    The City of Charlotte’s Small Business Matching Grant Program provides support to commercial property owners and entrepreneurs to reinvest in their physical spaces. With these grants, businesses can:
    • Refresh their building’s exterior and curb appeal
    • Enhance safety and security for staff and customers
    • Modernize interior upfits to meet today’s business needs

  2. Maximum Awards

    The program provides up to 50% reimbursement to commercial or industrial businesses or property owners for eligible renovation costs. A 60% reimbursement may be available on a case-by-case basis for utilization of certified Minority, Women or Small Business Enterprise (MWSBE) firms.   3. Eligible Geography

    Business Corridor Revitalization Geography. When you enter your project or business address in the application, the system will automatically look up if your address is in this geography and mark you as eligible or not.

  4. Next steps

    After applying, city staff may request additional documents (e.g. a notarized Owner’s Consent Form etc.) You should expect to hear within 30 days regarding the status of your application.
